Major steps forward

Tata Steel has recently made big steps in its preparation for its installation of its ‘cut-to-length line 10’. Due to the groundwater levels, divers first had to install a layer of underwater concrete. Once they had completed that job, they began the job of installing steel reinforcement bars for the remainder of the concrete foundations, then completed the slab by pouring more concrete.

Their new cutting line will allow them to take significant steps forward, by adapting to the changing requirements in the market. Not only will Feijen be able to increase its production volume, but it will also be able to fully process Tata Steel’s latest types of high-strength steel (e.g. Valast grades, Ympress S900MC, Ympress S960MC and Ympress S1100MC).

This new decoiling line will have the following capacities:

  • Maximum decoiling yield strength capacity: 1,600 N/mm2
  • Maximum decoiling tensile strength capacity: 1,870 N/mm2
  • Maximum length: 16,000 mm
  • Maximum width: 2,150 mm

Combine these machines with the new packaging line and Tata will be ready to face the future!

It is a wonderful project, in which Volantis is providing a full range of structural engineering services.
